Texaco Sampler Toy Car with sample box. The Texaco Diecast Series begain in 1894. Ertl Co. issued a 1913 Model T. Samples of forthcoming models were sent to banks, starting witht he first issue and ending with the fifth-year model. The sample boxes were plain and stamped "Samples Only." The service station issues would follow and would be presented in multi-colored boxes. The #5 issue, a 1918 Runabout, included 2000 samples that were cast with gold wheels. The service station issues were cast with chrome wheels. R and B Collectibles and Marketing printed a 1999 Texaco price guide and listed a value range of $300-$500 dollars. The series continues today and is in the middle twenties.
