Atlanta Antique Gallery - Lacquer Boxes Russian

These Russian Boxes are created by skilled artisans residing in four villages located 300 kilometers from Moscow ( Fedoskino,Palekh,Kholui and Mstera). They represent the highest level of miniatures decoration in a craft which has been practiced there since the late 18th century. Trees, foliage, scenery and figures are painted in painstaking detail using a magnifying glass. Each paper-mache box is a unique work of art which is designed, hand enameled and personally signed by the artist.
