Atlanta Antique Gallery - Cap Guns
Toy guns were patented in the 1850’s, however, were not manufactured in any quantity until a decade later due to the wartime shortages. These early toy guns were, for the most part, pea shooters and cork poppers and were usually made of wood with metal hardware, although iron and lead types may occasionally be found among them. These examples are hard to find today and most are known only through their patent drawings.
